We are very pleased to inform you that Hostelling International-Malaysia (previously known as Malaysian Youth Hostels Association) intend to hold the above program this year in conjunction with the International Day of Peace which falls on 21 September each year and to promote Malaysia to our HI member countries. The International Day of Peace is observed each year around the world and the United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.
We have successfully organized similar programs in 2007, 2012 and 2015 to coincide with our 50 years and 55 years anniversary and also to promote Visit Malaysia Year.
This 6 days and 5 nights program will be held in Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan. The total participants are expected to be 100 youths from the Asia Pacific countries and also our local youths and university students.
This Program on Peace and International Understanding was based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the International Youth Hostel Federation and UNESCO in 2003 to promote world peace and goodwill among people all over the world.
The objectives of this program are as follows:
a. a program for HI-Malaysia and to promote Malaysia as a tourist destination.
b. to promote peace and international understanding amongst Asia Pacific countries and enhancing the goodwill and friendship among the young people in the Asia Pacific region.
c. proactive program for youth leaders and volunteers from the private and public universities.
d. international event to promote interaction between local youth and international participants.
We would like to invite not more than ten young participants (between 18-30 years old) from Malaysia to participate in this program. Since HI-Malaysia is a voluntary, non-profit organization, we would require a registration fee of RM 150.00 per person to attend this 6 days 5 nights program.
