INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CONVENTION-2019, 15-20 October Delhi, India

 

 

Hostelling International-Malaysia send 5 youths from the age of 18yrs-28yrs to participate International Youth Convention 2019 in Delhi, India representing Malaysia. Malaysia was represented by Mr Sarranraaj a/l J.Harikrishna Gopal, Ms Delsyini a/p Veerapan, Mr Sarankumar a/l Perumalu, Ms Edwina Anne a/p Edwin & Ms Poorani a/p Jaraman.

      The Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) in the year of 2019, Hostelling International is completing its 70th year. Hence YHAI is celebration "Year 2019" as Platinum Jubilee of Hostelling International in India in a befitting manner by organizing different programs at states and national levels. The theme of the celebration is "Together We Can Bring International Peace"

      On the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of Hostelling International in India, YHA of India organized International Youth Convention 2019-Delhi, India for exchanging dialogue and mutual understanding among youths of national associations affiliated to HI. The convention will started on the 15th October 2019 and will end on 20th October 2019 after breakfast. Six delegates from each national association and 100 from India are invited.

The following topics will be discussed in the International Youth Convention-2019

  1. Deforestation.
  2. Women Empowerment
  3. Global Warming.
  4. Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth.
  5. Importance of Cultural & Youth Exchange among the National Association in the world
  6. Sustainability: Our Challenge-Our Future

     It was open to all Life member administration fee of RM 100.00 to be paid to HI-Malaysia (non-refundable). Non members can join as LIfe members to join this program and exempted from paying the administration fee. Boarding and lodging for 5 nights & 6 days from October 15-20, 2019 in dormitory accommodation will be provided by YHAI at International Youth Hostel Delhi, 5, Nyaya Marg Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, India. Meals from lunch on the 15/10/19 till breakfast on the 20/10/19 will be provided. It will include 5 breakfast, 5 lunch and 5 dinner.

Requirements of the participants are

  1. Cultural Performance (within 5 min)
    • Delegates have to represent their country for the cultural program with their traditional dresses. These performances will depict the enrich culture of particular country
  2. Together we can Bring International Peace
    • from each country have to give their Power Point Presentation on the Culture, Heritage, Festival & Cuisine of their country (presented in English and time duration 5 in)
  3. Gift Exchange with delegates from other country
    •  Small gifts depicting the speciality of your country should be exchange with other delegates of your groups. Bring 10-15 such types of gifts.

Day 1

Opening Ceremony with ice breaking and introduction of participants. 

 

   

   

   

   

   

Day 2

Today, as per the schedule of IYC 2019, all participants visited The Tajmahal one of the wonders of the world & enjoyed a lot. After visiting The Tajmahal all participants were taken to the Youth Hostel Agra, where they had Lunch which was organized by YHAI Uttar Pradesh State Branch.

   

   

 

Day 3

The day started with a session by National Chairman- YHAI, Mr S Venkat Narayanan & Ms Lisa Tanaka from Hostelling International, U.K. They took the session & explained about YHA India & Hostelling International. Later, all delegates from different states of India & Countries given a presentation on their Culture, Tradition, Food & Attire. It was a great experience for all delegates and they learnt about other States & Country's Culture & Tradition. In the evening, Cultural Promotion Committee Members of Madhya Pradesh has given a wonderful Cultural Performance.

     

  

Day 4

The day started with a Yoga session. All delegates did Yoga & learn tips of Yogasana. After breakfast, activities & group discussion started, it was interesting & creative part of the day. They prepared paper costumes & it was an outstanding creation. Then, all delegates went to perform the Flash Mob in the centre of Delhi at Connaught Place. The colourful t-shirts of delegates filled the area in their beautiful colours with performance. After flash mob delegates visited Qutub Minar, India Gate to witness the heritage of the city.

   

   

Day 5

The final day of IYC 2019 started with the lectures from guests on the topics of Climate Change, Moral Value & Ethics, Women Empowerment & Scope of Adventure Tourism in Global Economy. A team from St. John Ambulance demonstrate the CPR & life-saving activities. In the evening, All delegates wore their traditional attire to perform in the Cultural Evening. It was outstanding & energetic performances from the delegates & all the guests enjoyed the evening a lot.

In the end, the event concluded with Certificate & prize distribution & all delegates exchanged gifts among themselves. National Chairman- Mr S Venkat Narayanan, National Treasurer- Mr Manoj Johri, Vice Presidents- Mr Ashok Golane, Mr C D Vivekanandan, Mr E D Nongsiang, Mr Kiran Natekar, Chief Executive Officer- Mr Rupesh K Pandey thanked all delegates to attend the event & requested to come forward to develop & work for YHAI's Vision & Mission.

   

   

    

It was a grand successful event with more than 130 delegates from India & abroad. We from HI-Malaysia would like to thank Youth Hostels of India (YHA India) for organising and inviting HI-Malaysia members participating on these esteem event.
